New Orleans Style Benefit
Set for Feb. 24 at Lava Lounge

Art House, a nonprofit art center located in historic Brooklyn Centre, will heat up the North Coast with some New Orleans style partying for the second consecutive year when it holds its Mardi Gras Tune-Up II party on Feb. 24, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The party, which will benefit Art House programming, will be held at Lava Lounge, 1307 Auburn Ave., Cleveland.

Tickets for Mardi Gras Tune-Up II are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. To purchase advance tickets, call Art House at (216) 398-8556, or stop by the center at 3119 Denison Ave. The cost of admission will include food and two drinks.A 50/50 raffle also will be held. Raffle tickets, $1 each or six for $5, will be available at the event and before the party through Art House. Winners need not be present to win.

Art House will also sell Mardi Gras Beads, with proceeds going to Americans for the Arts Emergency Relief Fund – New Orleans artists.

ARTISTS NEEDED FOR EMPTY BOWLS FUNDRAISER

We at the Geauga Humane Society, a non-profit, unlimited stay animal shelter and humane education organization, are having our 4th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser on March 18 of this year. This is a highly successful fundraiser for us (last year alone we raised $38,000), due to people who believe in and support the humane treatment of animals. Support can be in the form of attending our events or donating goods or services to enable us to put the event together.

Here's where you can help...
The premise of this event is this: for a $50 admission fee, our guests are offered a meal of yummy soups and chili donated by area restaurants, along with breads and desserts. With their admission, our guests are able to choose from over 400 handcrafted ceramic bowls donated by area potters, students, etc. Although we don't actually serve their soup in the bowls, they must be food safe to use as they wish when they take them home. It is a great way of thanking them for their contribution, and the guests literally line up an hour before opening that evening in order to be one of the first to pick from the wonderful display of bowls! The rest of the event features music, a silent auction of art in any media and a live auction of hand-painted bowls from celebrities (sports, music, movies, etc.) who have agreed to participate as well. If you would like to help us out by donating either ceramic bowls or a piece of art in another medium for the art auction, please contact me. We would like to have all donations by March 1st unless you have a prior arrangement with me. We need to know what we have to work with well in advance of the March 18th event.

the art house sale was a financial success however the sales were limited to a few repeat and loyal customers. it was a good day for jewelers, bad day for potters.

Historic Brooklyn Centre announces
Candlelight Christmas House Tour and Art Sale

November 10, 2005 - Cleveland, OH - Archwood Denison Concerned Citizens, Art House, and Councilwoman Emily Lipovan-Holan proudly present a day of family fun and a celebration of tradition and culture. The second annual Candlelight Christmas House Tour will be held from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 11, 2005 in the historic neighborhood of Brooklyn Centre. In conjunction with the tour, Art House is hosting its annual Holiday Art Sale featuring local artists. Tickets for the Candlelight Christmas House Tour will be sold at Art House, 3119 Denison Avenue, beginning at 12:30 PM on the day of the event. Adult tickets are $15; senior and student tickets are $10. Pre-sale tickets will be available at Art House at a cost of $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. monoprints on stoneware mugs dipped in slip. unfortunately my pink glaze and clear do not want to co-exist. these were supposed to be iznik inspired. the glaze should have be bold and run outside the black edges. try, try again.

experiments, deviations, and new glazes. this glaze looks very yellow in the image but it is more crayola spring green in person. i think natalie will like it...
